This shoot is something that I've been meaning to get round to doing for a long time. My new camera (Nikon D90) is so much greater at dealing with low light, so I figured there was no excuse why I shouldn't begin shooting indoors.
For this shoot I had a loose concept and, when talking to Anthony, I asked him to write down some of the personal things he'd been going through lately. What was important to me about these pictures is that they be real and genuine, and that the actual images reflect that. This shoot is based largely on what Ant wrote down, incorporated with my ideas. I wanted them to be raw, documentary style so that we could depict this... hence why the majority are black and white, some are slightly out of focus and why the composition is a little off in a few. They're not supposed to be revolutionary, fancy or perfect. That would completely take away from the inspiration for the shoot. They had to be real above all else, and that's why such things as the way his room was were not staged; I left everything as it was when we arrived there. Also, a fair few of the pictures are spontaneous or motion shots, taken as we were chilling in his room. For example, as we were interrupted twice with phone calls, I just continued to take pictures and video. We had a friend with us and we put on some music, chatted and just generally had a chilled Friday afternoon shooting. Hope you enjoy them.
And as a little extra, here are a few pictures I took of Mike
whilst we were waiting for Ant to get ready
Let me know what you think.
