Dot Rotten - Live at Manchester Academy

These are some pictures I took of Dot Rotten performing live at Manchester Academy as he opened for Labrinth. Dot had invited me backstage and to photograph the night, and we'll be doing some further work together in the future, including a 'proper' shoot.

Managed to get a few shots outside during a break

Check out Dot's 'Are You Not Entertained' which has garnered more than 1.1MILLION views partly thanks to EMINEM adding it to his personal playlist on Youtube. View it HERE.
Or listen to his upcoming single 'Overload,' debuted on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show on Monday HERE.

Favour for a friend

I wasn't originally going to do anything with these pictures. Took them for a friend and her college project, but since people seemed to like the two I uploaded on Facebook, here are the rest.

We went to two locations and can't have spent more than around 10 minutes at each.

Labrinth - Live

At the end of February I was privileged enough to experience probably the highlight of my photographic career so far! I got to photograph Labrinth at the Manchester Academy date of his UK tour. It was my first live event photography EVER, but I like throwing myself into the deep end with these kind of things.

I was in the process of arranging a shoot with grime artist Dot Rotten back in December of 2011, when he invited me to join him backstage at the Labrinth gig to document the behind-the-scenes goings-on. He sorted me out with not only a press pass but also an access all areas pass too! It was wicked to get the chance to chill with him, his management and everybody involved with the tour. I have to thank Dot for this one!

The pictures I did with Dot that night are coming up after this. In the meantime, check out his new single 'Are You Not Entertained' (out now) as it has just clocked up 1 MILLION hits. This is in part thanks to EMINEM who added the video to his personal playlist on YouTube!

But for now, Labrinth...

Another photographer at work in the 'press pass' area we were allowed in
- just illustrates how close I was when taking the photos!

He was incredible live, in case you were wondering!
