Labrinth - Live

At the end of February I was privileged enough to experience probably the highlight of my photographic career so far! I got to photograph Labrinth at the Manchester Academy date of his UK tour. It was my first live event photography EVER, but I like throwing myself into the deep end with these kind of things.

I was in the process of arranging a shoot with grime artist Dot Rotten back in December of 2011, when he invited me to join him backstage at the Labrinth gig to document the behind-the-scenes goings-on. He sorted me out with not only a press pass but also an access all areas pass too! It was wicked to get the chance to chill with him, his management and everybody involved with the tour. I have to thank Dot for this one!

The pictures I did with Dot that night are coming up after this. In the meantime, check out his new single 'Are You Not Entertained' (out now) as it has just clocked up 1 MILLION hits. This is in part thanks to EMINEM who added the video to his personal playlist on YouTube!

But for now, Labrinth...

Another photographer at work in the 'press pass' area we were allowed in
- just illustrates how close I was when taking the photos!

He was incredible live, in case you were wondering!

  1. I'm really impressed by your work! I'm only 16 but have a keen passion for photography. You've done some great work I just wondered what camera you use?

  2. I used a nikon d90 with 50mm lens for these (and most of my current portfolio) but I use a d7000 now :)
